The International Fly Tackle Dealers Show, local bars and restuarantsin the French Quarter and fishing the flats for redfish and drum.
Flyfishing in the spring around Cerralvo Island usually leads to meeting the bad boys if you have the right fly, presentation-and captain. This area is so incredible because of the tremendous variety in the habitats-which means a lot of different fish species to engage.
This is an amazing group of "cowgirl/flyfisher"women who have little old restored trailers and travel around the country meeting at different locations to fish, eat ,drink, shoot, smoke and cuss! No men, kids or dogs allowed-unless you are a guide. They are a heck of a lot of fun!

Fly fishing Baja
For twenty years, Magdalena Bay has drawn Theresa and me to camp in the sand dunes on Isla Magdalena, check in with the grey whales, paddle and fish the mangrove esteros for spotted bass and broomtail grouper. This year we spent a couple of nights in La Paz for Carnival, and a few days chasing yellowtail and yellowfin from pangas at Cerralvo Island. For the first time we visited the ranchitos, streams and hot springs of the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere. It is up in the mountains between Cabo and La Paz. Once again Baja amazed us with it's natural diversity and beauty.
We stayed at san Jose Island and fished the big lagoon on the South end before moving camp to Espiritu Santo Island.
